FLIT FOREIGN TEACHERS

Currently, Fun Language sends native English speakers to teach at over 50 Thai schools where our lessons are incorporated into the regular school curriculum. FLIT lessons are designed for children aged 2 ½ - 18 years and are taught using songs, games, and activities. Our teachers can expect to teach from 4 to 6 classes a day, five days a week. Each lesson is 50 or 60 minutes in length and there may be anywhere from 20 to 30 children in the classroom. All lesson plans, teaching materials, and worksheets are provided by FLIT, therefore, the main role of teachers is to present the material in a fun and effective manner.

FLIT THAI TEACHERS

Fun Language uses a unique Team Teaching System. Each class is taught by a native English speaker and a Thai national teacher. Our Thai teachers are all young graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree. A lot of them majored in English and have all the necessary communicative skills to work successfully with the native English speakers. To become a FLIT Thai Team teacher you need to understand children and love working with them. Working for Fun Language is a unique opportunity for the Thai teachers not only to sharpen their own English skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, but also to choose teaching as their career path.

USEFUL INFORMATION FOR FOREIGN TEACHERS

Accommodation

There are several types of accommodation to choose from in Lopburi. However, where you decide to live will depend a great deal on your budget. Basic accommodation is a room with a bed, small table, and wardrobe, with an attached bathroom with a toilet and shower. Most rooms have air conditioning and hot water. They do not always include a cooker, fridge, or TV. Basic apartments cost anywhere from 2,500 to 3,500 baht per month.

Another option is to rent a house or a townhouse which are generally more spacious and range from 4,000 to 6,000 baht. Regardless of where you choose to live, you will be required to pay a security deposit (usually 2 months rent) plus your first month's rent in advance. Therefore, please be sure to have at least 3 month's advance rent available when you arrive.

USEFUL INFORMATION FOR THAI TEACHERS

Eye Contact

In team-teaching, eye contact is extremely important. If you and your  foreign teacher have a solid lesson plan, you will be able to communicate a great deal by simply catching the other teacher's eye at moments when you have something to say.

Positioning

As you teach with a foreign teacher you will begin to recognise certain positions. For example, when doing a demo, one teacher tends to stand on one side of the classroom while the other stands on the other. After the demo is finished, a team teacher might move a bit closer to the students to concept check. Then, the foreign teacher moves to the center area in front of the students and leads the game. The team teacher might mingle and help individual students who are struggling. When playing team games each teacher monitors one or more teams. Make sure you keep moving from team to team to give all students a chance to practise with the foreign teacher. Of course, everyone has their own unique patterns of positioning, and it is something that tends to happen naturally rather than as the result of conscious thought, but it is a good thing to keep in mind.
